Hop into the world of Lyla Andrick's Happy Dinosaurs! Take a peek into the life of Social Dinosaur, an outgoing, energetic, and friendly dinosaur! When she isn't talking to her friends, you can find her walking on the beach or playing her standup bass! Listen to the tune and dance with other dinosaurs as Social Dinosaur takes the sandy stage in this short animation.
For the final of my most recent DMD course, I was tasked to make a short animation that told a story. After falling in love with Happy Dinosaur, I was brave enough to take on the ideas of Lyla, who was eager to let me experiment with her dinosaur designs in hopes to bring them to life one day.
Each dinosaur was animated separately, then combined into one composition as to prevent computational issues and overloading one After Effects file. I mainly utilized scaling and puppet pins to animate these dinosaurs
Despite all of the greatness of this, it did come with a cost. I would have been able to expand upon this idea, however, technology thought otherwise, and I lost my personal computer in the middle of working on this. As a result, I had to shed much of the introductory part of this story and focus on the main event: Social Dinosaur playing the stand-up bass.
However, that did not stop me from getting even a small clip out. With the grace of my professor, I was able to still produce something worthwhile. Enjoy!
